Animal hydrotherapy to get your dog moving again
Underwater treadmill, therapeutic laser and electrostimulation, in a centre run by a veterinarian trained in physiotherapy. After surgery, with osteoarthritis or to lose weight: progressive, supervised work with no impact on the joints.

Underwater treadmill In water, your dog carries only a fraction of its weight: it can walk again early and gently while rebuilding muscle without straining the operated joint.
Two pillars
Two ways of working, often combined
Animal hydrotherapy
In an underwater treadmill, water supports the body, resists movement and warms the tissues: work starts earlier and lasts longer than on land. 30-min session, 55 €. For dogs and cats.
Why water changes everything →Therapeutic laser
Low-intensity light that helps tissues repair, reduces swelling and relieves pain. A few minutes per area, no sedation. 30-min session, 35 €.

The situations we treat
After surgery
Cruciate ligament, slipped disc, fracture, hip surgery: limiting muscle loss as soon as the vet gives the go-ahead.
Osteoarthritis and older dogs
Morning stiffness, trouble with the car, shorter walks: maintaining movement and comfort.
Dysplasia
Hip or elbow: solid muscular support around an imperfect joint.
Overweight
Genuine endurance work, with almost no impact on the joints.
Neurological disorders
Retraining the walking pattern with support the ground cannot provide.
Sporting and working dogs
Preparation, maintenance and return to sport after injury.
Not only after an injury
Simply getting back in shape
Hydrotherapy is not reserved for dogs that have had surgery. A healthy but sedentary dog, a senior slowing down, a sporting dog between two seasons or a dog that needs to lose a few kilos all find complete endurance and muscle work here, with no impact on the joints. The initial assessment rules out contraindications and sets a programme suited to its age and condition.

- Sedentary dog or dog lacking exercise
- Senior slowing down, to maintain muscle and suppleness
- Sporting dog: pre-season preparation, maintenance between events
- A few kilos to lose without wearing the joints
How it works
On referral from your vet
We work alongside, not instead: diagnosis and treatment remain with your regular vet, who refers your dog to us and receives a report. Without a referral, first book a first session with assessment (83 €, 45 min): we evaluate your dog and contact your vet.
- You request an appointment online or by phone, stating the reason and your vet.
- The slot is allocated to you immediately: your appointment is firm and binding, and the confirmation follows by e-mail straight away.
- Assessment and then sessions at a pace set together, with exercises to repeat at home.
What we see in practice
- Earlier weight-bearing on the operated limb
- Recovery of muscle mass, measured with a tape at each assessment
- Better joint range of motion, dog less stiff on waking
- Weight loss without stressing the joints
Rehabilitation supports veterinary treatment; it does not replace it. Results depend on the condition, age and regularity: no recovery time can be guaranteed in advance.

Frequently asked questions
What owners ask us
My dog doesn’t like water. Is hydrotherapy still possible?
Yes, in the vast majority of cases. The underwater treadmill is not a pool: the dog keeps its paws on the floor, the water rises gradually and there is never any forced swimming. The first session is used to get the dog used to it, with the tank empty and then only slightly filled, with rewards.
Dogs that are reluctant at first usually walk in without difficulty after two or three sessions. If the apprehension persists, the session focuses on mobilisations and laser; water is reintroduced later.
Do I need a prescription or a referral from my vet?
Kinevet works on veterinary referral, because rehabilitation requires an established diagnosis and ruled-out contraindications. If you do not yet have a referral, book a first session with assessment: the veterinarian evaluates your dog and contacts your regular vet before starting sessions.
Diagnosis and treatment remain with your regular vet, who receives a report after the assessment and at the end of the programme. You can give their details in the appointment request.
My dog has nothing in particular: can I simply come to get it back in shape?
Yes. Hydrotherapy also suits the healthy dog that lacks exercise, the senior that is slowing down or the sporting dog preparing for its season: walking in water works endurance and muscles with no impact on the joints. We start with a first session with assessment, which rules out contraindications and sets the programme.
The rhythm is decided at the assessment according to the goal: fitness, weight, sports preparation. Your regular vet is kept informed if you wish.
How many sessions should I plan for?
It depends entirely on the indication. After cruciate ligament surgery, a series of six to twelve sessions over six to eight weeks is common. For osteoarthritis, it is long-term maintenance, with one session every one to two weeks.
The initial assessment gives an estimate, reassessed over the sessions according to what the dog shows. Subscriptions of 6, 10 and 20 sessions exist for hydrotherapy and a 6-session package for laser; they are paid at the first visit, during which a plan is established.
